Lavene Stone, a sophomore, received second prize a Parker 51 fountain pen and pencil set for water colors. The event featured two paintings by Nell Klinge, including River at Red Point, donated in memory of Richard Merrill.

Missions Training Welcomes Two Young Men from Idaho
Lynn J Larsen and Doyle B Tanner will enter the Salt Lake City missions training school on May 3. Larsen, 23, born in Fairview and a Preston high school graduate, served 18 months in the army engineers and will train for a mission to the southern states. Tanner, a Preston graduate and University of Idaho agriculture student, will prepare for the central Atlantic states mission. Both have farewell events in Fairview and Linrose ward chapels with socials and dancing.

Myron E. Comish 78 of Franklin died Monday at LDS Hospital Logan from heart trouble. Born Oct 20 1869 in Franklin he lived in Frankin and Grace area before retiring in 1928 to Lava Hot Springs where he served on the city council and was mayor. He later resided in Preston and Franklin until his death leaving surviving brothers and sisters and funeral services pending.

Mrs Olive Merl Jones Hansen 54 died suddenly at her West First North home last Friday. Born March 3 1894 in Lewiston Utah to Mark V and Livinia Jones she attended Fairview schools. She married Reynold A Hansen in the Logan temple November 19 1919. he preceded her in death November 30 1934. The Preston area widow worked with the church auxiliary and managed the Preston branch storehouse for the welfare program. Funeral held Tuesday at the third ward chapel with Bishop Earl Hollingsworth officiating. graveside service at Preston cemetery conducted by Schyler White.
