Franklin county fair plans expand with new buildings
Franklin county fair organizers announce a second new building to be erected near the current fairgrounds to house flowers booths and seven produce exhibits. The fair dates are set for August 26 to 28 1954 with plans for improved judging open class 4 H exhibits and additional rides and a junior rodeo. Organizers invite residents to participate and plant gardens for display.

Peter Olson longtime Preston resident died Tuesday in Tooele Utah after a heart ailment. Survivors include two sons Wendell Midvale Utah and Kay Pocatello Idaho seven daughters Thelma Miller Tod Park Monts Billie Freeny Fresno Fonda Wilcon Gites Ham Roma Ann and Ludean Olson Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM in the Preston Second Ward Chapel. Friends may call Webb Mortuary Friday evening and Saturday morning until services. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.

The Kent Preston fire crew faced six calls last week as hot weather sparked several blazes. A Kendall home grass fire threatened chicken coops but caused no serious damage. a Mink Creek furnace scare ended safely. a Franklin grass fire destroyed a bicycle shed. losses ranged between 3000 and 3500 dollars with no insurance on the affected buildings. The Claude Keller home in Mink Creek suffered heavy damage from defective wiring, with top floor and much furniture ruined though some rooms and a nearby structure were saved. A Casperson home attic fire north of town burned equipment but stopped before threatening nearby houses.

Local Furniture Store Gives Miniature Cedar Chests to Graduates
