Soil District Reaches Milestone In Franklin County
The Franklin soil conservation district marks a milestone as it nears milestone in co operator status. Board chairman Mr Meek notes the district is voluntary with no taxing power and relies on technical help from government agencies and the Soil Conservation Service. Farmers sign a non legal agreement to pursue soil conservation with district assistance and may terminate at any time. Dr. Paul Christiansen of USAC at Logan outlines questions about erosion irrigation and sustainable crop production to assess need for district aid.
