A local teens prize contest in Franklin County offers six big prizes topped by a $289.95 console radio phonograph. Entrants must clip and submit the entry blank from the Preston Citizen with easy weekly cash prizes and free portraits for actives. Official opening is Saturday April 8, with ads promising simple sales and local news coverage.
The Preston Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Saturday Easter egg hunt at the city park starting at 2 p.m. with a special area for toddlers. The Jaycees assist and junior chamber members run the event. Over 100 prizes, including eggs dyed by Preston High School home making classes, will be scattered through the park for kids up to age 10. Roy Peterson leads preparations for prizes and refreshments.
Jaycees announce the Preston campaign schedule from April 17 to 22 for the annual clean up paint up and fix up week. Lavor Smith chairs arrangements with Royce Fuhriman and Howard Bennett as co chairs.
A Sunday three car crash near Idaho Falls killed four members of one family and injured two others. Victims include Mrs Fannie Curtis and Mr Kent Curtis. several children Rodney Lee 2% months Christina Curtis eight, and Lorene Curtis. Coroner's jury opened an inquest Monday.
Junior Girls of the Franklin stake sponsor Easter services at the stake house at 7: a.m. An outstanding program is arranged with Dr Newell Davies as speaker. Junior girl leaders Mrs Edna J Dursteler and Mrs Joan W Perkins direct the event. Each group will display a project in Relief Society rooms. Mary Condie handles reception and ushering. Donna Decker leads the first ward programs.
Dr Franz J Polgar a famed memory and telepathy expert is set to appear as guest speaker for the Preston Knife and Fork club on Saturday evening April 15. He will demonstrate mental powers, memory feats and the power of suggestion, claiming a long international reputation and tests by New York University psychology department.
Wilford Meek Nash and David Beckstead won state Future Farmers of America degrees at the Idaho convention in Boise. They attended with Gordon Campbell who served as a delegate and reprinted a southeastern FFA item in the public speaking contest.

The Oneida Stake organizes weekly dances for young people with the first event set for April 22 at 9 pm in the courthouse. No admission fee. A PTA meeting at Central School on Wednesday at 7:80 pm discusses local school building issues.
G L Wright chairman of the Franklin County Fair board announced the annual fair at Preston will run August 24 to 26. Exhibits span dairy beer swine sheep works and pleasure horses with junior 4 H and Future Farmer displays. Open class needlecraft and displays highlight the flower show sponsored by the Franklin County Flower and Garden Club and Bonneville Gladiolus society. Special events include a junior rodeo horse pulling and a 4 H club plowing contest. Citizens urged to plan planting and handicraft for exhibit.
The high school P T A sponsoring the Vandaleer chair from the University of Idaho presents a concert in Preston High School auditorium. Led by Glen R Lockery the mixed choir of about 50 voices will perform starting at 7 30 p m. The tour includes Montpelier Pocatello Malad and nearby areas.
Ned Winward Clifton will depart from Salt Lake City on Monday April 17 to begin missionary service in New Zealand training. He is the son of Mr and Mrs R Winward and graduated from Preston High School in 1949. He spent 18 months in the armed forces and has studied at Idaho State College in Pocatello. A farewell party and testimonial will be held Saturday April 15 at 8 p.m. in Clifton, followed by a dance.
Bowman, a longtime equipment repairman, moved his tools to the rear of Godfrey Hardware & Electric at 57 North State, offering repairs to washing machines and all electrical appliances. Monte Packer, a repairman from Peastgertat, also set up in the Godfrey building to perform repairs of all types of electrical refrigerators.
Suel Murdock named cow tester and will lead a dairy herd improvement seminar for the Franklin County Artificial Breeding Association and the Franklin County Dairy Herd Improvement groups. Leonard Lund, chair, praised the choice as Mrs Murdock replaces James Gittens who won a Riverton irrigation project in Wyoming. The appointment takes effect April 11 with high praise from Mr Land and Mr Doney.
The Franklin ward choir will present the Easter cantata Resurrection Morning by Cecil Gates in the ward chapel at 31330 pm. Mrs Vella Woodward directs with Li ville Clark and LaDawn Doney as accompanists. Narration by Mrs Gwent Gibson and solos by several named singers. Everyone is invited.

Farmers and poultrymen in the Malad Preston area receive checks totaling 16800 as part of a 140000 patronage distribution paid by the Utah Poultry and Farmers Co-operative. The repayments cover eggs sold through the marketing co operative in the past and are distributed via the local branch of Franklin County Poultry Association.
Plans for spring and summer softball seasons are under way in Oneida stake. Preparations include forming teams from each ward for tournament play. Interested participants or questions should contact the stake supervisor for softball, Voris Johnson.
A series of district breakfast events begins Monday to support a local scouting drive. Preston district workers and captains are urged to attend the 7 o clock breakfast at Jefferson cafeteria with meals funded by Franklin County Grain Growers and other local suppliers. South district and north district kickoffs follow with dinners in their respective venues, led by local volunteers and district chairs.
