Preston voters will elect officials at the biennial city election on April 28 from 9 am to 7 pm. Precinct 1 votes at Ada R. Nelson building in First South and State streets, precinct 2 at First Security Bank. Registrations at 60 West Oneida Street with registrars A R Swainston and Mrs Lillie E Benson. Voters who voted in 1955 or 1957 need not re register.

Trip to Atom Conference Offered by Power Company
Utah Power and Light Company Idaho service area screens about 15 nominations to select three finalists for an all expense paid trip to the youth conference on the atom in Atlantic City next month. Two-Row Barley Tested in County For Use in Dry
Nineteen barley varieties were planted March 26 at the R W Geddes farm by Harland Stevens USDA plant breeder at Aberdeen. The test compares performance under dry and irrigated conditions in Franklin County as part of a cooperative program with the University of Idaho. The nursery helps farmers identify varieties with the highest yields and will be toured by area farmers in early July.

Coburn Sentenced in Baxter Death
Max Coburn of Preston was sentenced by Judge John A. Carver to nine months in county jail and a $500 fine after a jury found him guilty of negligent homicide in the death of Haxel Baxter. Mrs. Baxter and her husband Donald died in a story crash north of Preston on November 2. Coburn received a stay of execution pending appeal to the Idaho Supreme Court and was released on $3,000 bail.

Easter Egg Hunt Held Saturday In City Park
The annual Easter egg hunt took place Saturday morning in the city park. Sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce the event drew between 800 and 1000 children. Candy eyes in sacks were hidden by Boy Scout troops. Douglas Campbell, chairman, said the Chamber and the police department cooperated. A free show followed at the Grand Theatre.
