Zenith Blames Layoffs on U S Dumping Policy
Zenith Radio Corp chairman John J. Nevin blamed plans to lay off over 3,000 U S workers on government inaction against Japanese dumping. He said anti-lumping laws are not enforced, flooding the U S market with cheap imported sets and harming American jobs at Zenith plants in Chicago and other communities. The plan shifts work to Mexico and Taiwan, with overseas assembly while parts remain in the United States.
