Colombia urges price cut to curb coffee slump
At the ICO annual meeting in London Colombia’s Arturo Gomez Jaramillo urged fellow producers to lower prices to boost consumption and prevent a shift to cheaper drinks. He warned a 10 percent world price cut could slash producer revenue by more than $1 billion and noted past proposals for a price ceiling. Brazil and other big exporters largely ignored the plea as prices and consumption trends shifted since 1975.
