Judge rejects adoption by man of his girlfriend
A Rhode Island Superior Court judge ruled against a 30 year old man seeking to adopt his 20 year old girlfriend, calling the notion a ludicrous result. The decision upheld a Central Falls probate judge who refused the adoption of Karen Mary Jones by Duncan Clinton Fraser, noting Rhode Island law forbids a man from marrying his daughter and that sex with an adopted daughter could be incest. The attorney for Fraser argued the practice, claiming adoption protects against alimony, but the court dismissed the premise.
