Senate Interior Committee endorsed a plan for about 55,000 Alaska natives to receive 1 billion dollars and up to 40 million acres or an alternative mix of 24 to 40 million acres plus mineral rights and future use. The package includes 500 million dollars in cash and other conditions. native groups push for broader ownership and revenue sharing.
