Huge arms cache found near Khe Sanh by South Vietnamese forces
In the Khe Sanh area near the Laotian border troops uncovered a major North Vietnamese supply base and the largest munition cache in recent months. The 20-structure complex held over 400 000 rounds of ammunition, large quantities of wire and fuel, and five tons of rice. A smaller cache nearby contained rockets and rifle rounds. The operation coincides with broader efforts below the DMZ as U.S. commanders report continued air strikes and troop adjustments ahead of withdrawal.
