Soviet Warns Japan on U S Use of Bases
The Soviet Union warned Japan against allowing U S forces to use Japanese bases for aggression in the Formosa Strait area. A Soviet note cited reports of American forces using Japanese territory and warned Japan could be drawn into actions against the People's Republic of China. The note was handed to reporters at the Soviet Embassy. Tokyo rejected it as one-sided. The report also said about 4,000 U S Marines had landed in Formosa and moved from Okinawa.
