Brooklyn teen charged for illegal vote registration
A 16 year old Brooklyn youth named Wally Rodriguez was arrested for auto theft and charged with illegally registering to vote. He allegedly claimed his mother Rosa Rodriguez, a Board of Elections employee, helped him and other neighborhood teens register to vote while driving a stolen 1966 Ford in Greenpoint. Doming Moreno, 20, was with him when stopped by Officer William Martin.

Town Re lights In Utility Tax Truce
A timber town restores power after residents and businesses refuse a 1 percent utility tax. Consumers Power Co. restored electricity after customers agreed to pay taxes due and a $53 reconnect fee into an escrow account pending final settlement. The tax, levied in 1968, was contingent on a retroactive court ruling earlier this year. Most homeowners blocked payment, citing cost and opposition to the tax. a few paid under protest amid further court actions planned.
