Counseling girls helps women enter male-dominated fields
Gloria McGregor, Tulare County planning assistant, credits high school counseling for guiding women into engineering and urban planning. She cites a Fresno High School teacher, Sarah Raebourne, who encouraged four girls to pursue engineering. McGregor, 46, also notes pay gaps but says she faces few barriers once employed, and urges strong counseling to broaden girls’ career options.
