Five Dead in Holiday Accidents Near Salton Sea
Five Southland residents died in holiday vehicle crashes during the start of the Thanksgiving weekend. Included were Garden Grove brothers Randy Heinz 14 and Ricky Heinz 12, Santa Ana resident Ronald Brisbin 31, Stanton resident Lary Murphy 25, and 3-year-old Barbara Jimenez of Compton. Brisbin and the Heinz brothers perished when a four wheel drive overturned near the Salton Sea. Brisbin's 10-year-old son Donnie survived. Murphy died after his car struck a utility pole in Anaheim. Barbara Jimenez was hit by a car on Rosecrans Avenue near Mulberry Street in Compton. the driver, Rexford Rogers 50, was not held.
