Tentative 813000 Settlement Aims for Sansinena Crew Families
relatives of three Italian crewmen killed when the Sansinena oil tanker exploded in Los Angeles Harbor last December 17 reach a tentative out of court agreement. The suits total 31.6 million with U.S. District Judge Robert J Kelleher expected to approve by month end. The settlement would pay 3490 to Antonio Donna rumma's widow and 110.06 to Umberto Scarogni's widow, with Calogero d'Asaro's survivors also affected. Defendants include Barracuda Tanker Corp Hendy International and Union Oil Co. The firms Semel Pat rusky and Buchsbaum represent the families and would receive about a third of each settlement. Further lawsuits remain active for Alfio Zammataro and Emanuele Orgioli and a separate suit seeks 10.6 million. hearing set January 16 in Los Angeles federal court.
