Farm vote surge helps Nixon in farm counties survey
In farm counties across Iowa Colorado Kansas Montana and Tennessee voters backed Nixon over Humphrey and Wallace. Nixon led in 11 of 13 counties surpassing his 1960 rate, while Wallace drew limited cross party support and hurt Democrats. Nixon pledged dedicated farm price improvements and a new farm program to replace the expiring plan, without specifics, as Humphrey urged continuation with added bargaining power. Founders Life Insurance and Western Guaranty Life Insurance merged in Los Angeles.
