Prague crowds burn red flag protest against Soviet occupation

In Prague hundreds of workers youths and shoppers protested the Soviet occupation by burning a Russian flag and jeering at Dubcek. Police and angry crowds clashed briefly as demonstrators at Wenceslas Square and outside the Ministry of Foreign Trade escalated with chanting and flag destruction.

London auction house Sothebys reports a world record price of 52800 dollars for a Stradivarius violin bought by British businessman Jack Morrison who plans to play it. The previous record was 31200 dollars set on July 4 1966 for an Italian instrument once owned by Giovanni Battista Viniti.
