Experts blame improper bracing for Foothill Freeway bridge collapse
United Press International reports testimony from Stanely Hart and Carl Verner at a state hearing on the Foothill Freeway project disaster. Hart, for the Los Angeles Building and Construction Trades Council, said girders out of plumb and loosely braced contributed to collapse, while Verner noted visual inspection days earlier showed vertical girders and described construction office issues. Six workers died and 21 injured in the collapse.
