LBJ Wins Nixon OK on Budget Cut in Texas Visit
Nixon praised Johnson for accepting a $6 billion budget cut and urged leading Democrats to back the move. He arrived in Dallas after Johnson spoke in Johnson City and called the cut constructive, saying it could restore dollar confidence. Nixon supported lowering the voting age, and planned a weekend strategy huddle in Key Biscayne as his campaign shifts after Oregon primary victory. He projected stronger Texas support than in 1960 and foresaw a tough race with Wallace, touring the South toward Georgia. A crowd greeted Nixon at Dallas Airport.
