Big automakers report smaller drop in sales in May
Detroit based report shows the four major U.S. automakers posted a 19.9 percent year over year drop in mid May new car sales, the smallest decline of 1974. General Motors led with 142,485 cars, Ford at 244, serovat, and American Motors down about 14 percent. Chrysler down 13.8 percent. Overall May 1–11 to 20 results show improving market while incentive end and spring upturn expected to continue.
