Long Beach Gas Tax Shares and Naval Contracts Report

Long Beach’s apportionment of gasoline tax funds totals 997 798.45 for the year with 236 556.42 due in the March quarter. Navy ship repair awards total 2 292 736.08 across fourteen cities, led by Harbor Boat Building Co at Terminal Island with 495 961 for regular overhaul of non magnetic minesweepers. Other contracts include Todd Shipyards San Pedro Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel and Fellows and Steinart Wilmington.

Uniform ban urged to protect morale and dye surplus

Rep. Kilday of Texas proposed a policy to keep military uniforms from being worn as work clothes or by those in menial jobs. He suggested surplus uniforms be dyed black before civilians can buy them to prevent use outside the service.
