Unionist Awarded Woodrow Wilson Fellowship at UC
Clintor Jencks a 40 year old former mine union official once accused of being a Communist has been awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation Award by the University of California and will pursue a master's in economics next fall. His Mine, Mill and Smelters union card was revoked by the CIO a decade ago after labeling him a Communist amid a separate legal fight in El Paso Texas. The government moved to retry a charged case following a U S Supreme Court decision.
