Navy blimp crash at hangar kills officer in foggy landing
A Navy ZPG2 airship crashed into a hangar in dense fog at Lakehurst New Jersey. One crewman Lt David Loyd of Vega Texas died. Lt Richard Sireh, the airship commander, was injured. Six crewmen hospitalized and several others with minor injuries. Rescuers climbed 150 feet to reach the gondola trapped under gas beneath the destroyed blimp. The airship was returning from a routine anti submarine patrol when the accident occurred.
