Trial of ex-councilman Wayne Sharp opens in Carson court
In Camp ton Municipal Court on Monday former city councilman Wayne Sharp faced allegations of lying to investigators over a 1974 traffic crash. Witness Diana Paul testified that her car, ahead of Sharps, matched police reports and she observed a car follow and crash into a pole. Defense contends Sharp’s loss of control was caused by road conditions and coke dust, with his statements explaining inconsistencies as confusion after the incident. The panel of eight women and four men was seated, with venue change plans abandoned, and the trial to continue at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Everett E. Ricks Jr.
