Long Beach veterans who have not filed for tax exemptions risk losing them. City Assessor J. R. Cale notes 4,000 plus may be eligible but未 filed. Approximately 5 to 23 thousand veterans were mailed notices. nonfilers must act before 5 p.m. next Monday under state and municipal rules.
The Capt. William Sullivan Post of the American Legion will host the second annual Nurse of the Year ceremony at the Elks Club on May 16. About 1,200 people are expected. 27 nurses from 23 hospitals in the harbor area and Orange County were nominated. Last year’s winner, Capt. Betty Lynch, Army nurse, will present the medallion. The program begins at 7 45 p.m in cooperation with the Civic and Veterans Committee.
