L B Robber Sentenced to 22 Years
Stanley Lee Janson, 21, formerly of Long Beach, was sentenced by US District Judge Manuel L. Real to 22 years in federal prison for the March 6 armed robbery of Security First National Bank in Maywood. He admitted the robbery and faced charges of assaulting three bank tellers with a revolver. He resided at 1147 Mahanna Ave before his arrest.

Memorial for Rev Lloyd Larbeer in Claremont
Memorial services will be held at 11 30 am Saturday in Kingman Chapel Claremont for Rev Lloyd Larbeer who left Long Beach after serving as YMCA executive secretary in the 1930s and became a renowned American missionary to India. He died last week. Supported by Long Beach First Congregational Church he headed a trade school for 2500 students at Puumalai near Madras and with his wife built a clinic and hospital offering prenatal care for thousands. His work was praised by the late Prime Minister Nehru.

Woman Faces Murder Charge After Repossession Dispute
A Willowbrook woman is to be arraigned on a murder charge after a 34-year-old man was found fatally shot outside Alta Mae Whitfield’s home during a dispute over car repossession. Detectives say the victim was shot multiple times in the back with a .22 caliber rifle following a violent argument. Robert Cuba of 514 W. Pear St. was identified as the observer.
