Pentagon seeks 230 million bonuses to lure skilled reservists
The Pentagon asked Congress for 20 million in immediate bonuses and 200 million more next year to recruit doctors and other specialists into a voluntary force. The plan, outlined in legislation by General Counsel JARED BUZHARDT, aims to reduce a 50,000-man shortage in National Guard and reserve units and align pay with civilian rates, with bonuses up to 2,200 dollars for six-year enlistments and 1,100 for non critical skills, pending experimental caps.
