County probes video system in $19.5 million project
County investigators seek to determine if a faulty video system was installed in the $19.5 million microwave communications project used by the sheriff's department. County administrator Arthur Will told supervisors on Tuesday a report is expected in 40 days. If the system fails to meet contract specs, a court suit could follow. Since installation in August 1971, the county has paid $628,010 in rentals to Ampex Corp, with December 1971 payments disputed over performance.
