Virginia Negro sheriff Bradby found dead in car
James N. Bradby 38 the only Black sheriff in Virginia died from self inflicted action in his Charles City car. A hose ran from the exhaust with the window taped shut. Hughes to buy two more Las Vegas hotels
Howard Hughes has authorized his representatives to purchase the Silver Slipper and Stardust on the Las Vegas Strip if state gambling licenses are approved. The move would give Hughes control of about one mile of Strip frontage and expand a holdings list that already includes Desert Inn, Sands, Castaways and Frontier hotels. U S Warships Collide During Bermuda Training Exercise
Two Navy destroyers the Gainard and Glennon collided during a training cruise about 40 miles west of Bermuda. Couple Dies on Yacht at Santa Catalina Island
The bodies of Carl A. Jaeger 25 and Jan Van Hoorebeke 21 were found Monday in the closed cabin of a 32 foot cruiser near the Isthmus mouth at Santa Catalina Island. Sheriff's homicide detectives said they apparently asphyxiated from a charcoal burning hibuchi that exhausted the cabin’s oxygen. Both victims were Los Angeles residents and employees of California Land and Title Co. in Los Angeles. A marine biology lab crew found the vessel adrift in kelp. it had apparently broken loose from its anchor offshore.

ABC Must Pay Show 660000 for contract damages
Los Angeles ABC was ordered to pay Queen For a Day producers 660,285 in breach of contract damages. An eight man four woman jury deliberated three days before ruling in favor of Queen For a Day Inc.
