Inland letter spread bright moves to Lakeport retreat

A letter from Charles and Ruby Kirste brightened a move after 25 years at 175 Claremont Ave to Lakeport on Clear Lake. They invite GI friends to visit their lakeside home, while longtime friends Jack and Grace Carroll and Dr Russ Spears enjoy Hawaiian tales and Kona Hilton chatter. Ann and Chris Christopherson host a Belmont Heights gathering with naval officer-in-training David Christopherson and his band, as families toast upcoming weddings and milestones. A chaotic Christmas shopping tale closes the piece with Don and Sandy Gill and Bob Severns racing to finish gifts in Tecate and Tijuana before a missing child is found by police.

Dear Abby column on past loves and home life

Dear Abby offers guidance on a husband fixated on a late wife’s memories and a young girl with a strict mother. Advice notes that memory is fine but living in the past should be avoided, and suggests allowing burial wishes to be stated in a will. The second letter urges mothers to welcome visiting friends over keeping a pristine house.
