Hearing Set on Freeway Between Los Angeles and Norwalk

Nine 20 year teachers honored at Long Beach event
Nine teachers with twenty years of service from Lakewood and Bellflower schools will be honored tonight at 6 30 PM at the Long Beach Elks Club. The Education Association conducts its annual awards banquet with youth service awards in two categories for local organizations. Dr. Thomas P. Santos, economic consultant to the California Teachers Association, will speak. He also directs international programs for the California State College System. More than 400 are expected.

A man found floating off San Pedro Thursday is tentatively identified as Veikko Harti, 67, a seaman. Harbor Division homicide detectives report no sign of foul play yet. The body was sent to a mortuary for further investigation after a water taxi company worker saw it at 30 am.
