Sixth GI Quits Sweden Returns Home From Stockholm
The sixth U.S. serviceman to abandon seeking asylum in Sweden over Vietnam left for the United States after arriving in Stockholm and entering the U S Embassy for a return flight to New York. He had not formally asked for asylum and received a plane ticket home. Reports say leaders called for leniency to avoid encouraging further defections. Pvt. Ray Jones of Pontiac was the first to be granted asylum and flew back to Frankfurt last Tuesday.

Tests to Prove Pilots Ability Stir Storm by Private Fliers
Washington reports a push by the FAA to require periodic flight instruction and proficiency testing for private pilots, a move drawing fierce opposition from long-time hobby fliers who outnumber professional pilots. Proponents note accidents in 1966 linked partly to stale skills, while critics warn the rule would force many pilots to abandon aviation.
