In Sacramento a resolution to initiate the Seaside Freeway linking Long Beach and Harbor freeways would cost 35 million dollars. Assemblymen Joseph M. Kenrick and Vincent Thomas coauthor the measure proposing a four lane six mile route with a 3000 foot bridge between San Pedro and Terminal Island and replacing the pontoon bridge over Cerritos Channel.

15 Injured as Bus Hits Truck in Highway Crash
A Sacramento to San Francisco Greyhound bus collided with a truck trailer on U S Highway 40 about 40 miles northeast of San Francisco. Fifteen people were injured, six seriously, with passengers taken to three hospitals in Fairfield Vallejo and the bus not overturning. The bus had 37 adults and four children aboard. Bus driver William Meadows 55 of Anderson and truck driver Harlan Coursey about 60 of Paso Robles were among the injured.

Claim Right to Work Chain Sheds Light on GE Plant Protest
Eleven workers remained chained to a pillar at the General Electric plant in Bloomfield as they protested a plan to shut down operations after April 1 and move most work South. They displayed a banner declaring We Want the Right to Work and indicated they would stay until forcibly removed, while others left overnight. Local 442 leader Charles Ziegler said the action demonstrated that the average American fights to keep work and accused GE of backing right to work to discriminate against workers.

Slain Los Angeles 14 Year Old Named Tono in Drive-By
Police hunt for three strangers who shot 14 year old William Tono as he rode with two other teens. They followed a dark two door sedan to a party near Los Angeles High School before three youths confronted them and one fired at Tono, killing him. The two remaining youths aided the victim and drove to a service station where an ambulance was called. The suspect trio fled. Names of the juveniles are withheld.
