Hospitals Cleared for Medicare Rights Rise to 91.9 Percent

Sterling F. Green reports that 6,505 of 7,355 hospitals, or 88.4 percent of qualified institutions, are cleared under civil rights rules to participate in Medicare as of Monday. The tally shows regional gaps in the Southeast, with Mississippi and several southern states lagging, while 100 percent compliance exists in 19 states.

Silent heart disease warned for millions in U S

CHICAGO UPI A New York cardiologist told AMA delegates that several million Americans age 35 and up may have silent coronary artery disease. Dr Arthur Master of Mt Sinai Hospital said 4 to 6 percent over 34 could be severely affected with asymptomatic heart disease. A million or more may have silent myocardial infarctions annually. He urged annual physicals and thorough exams including chest X ray and ECG at rest, plus a plan for exercise ECG testing if needed. Dr Master coauthored with Dr Arthur Gelter of Paramus New Jersey.

Divorcing Wife Due 1.7 Million in Settlement

Mrs. Jacki Anne Addis received 1.7 million in money and property in a default divorce from Arthur L. Addis in Los Angeles. The settlement included a $200,000 Encino home and monthly support of 850 for sons David, 17, and Keith, 15, after a history of abuse and estrangement.
