Food was worst part for Ethiopia hostage
Ron Michalke, a 38 year old communications technician from Asmara, Ethiopia, spent six months with Ethiopian rebel guerrillas. He says the hardest part was eating native beans and greens with red pepper, while captors fed him spaghetti, rice and tomato paste. He was released June 3 weighing 124 pounds after 125 miles of travel by camel and on foot. He endured loneliness and fear, a guard with an automatic rifle, and rheumatism from extreme heat.
