San Jose student pilot dies in Tracy crash
A 17 year old student pilot Gary Bruce Hart died when his Cessna 150 nose first crashed into a peach orchard four miles southwest of Tracy after four hours of flying lessons at San Jose Airport. His instructor Warren L. Smith 69 of Los Altos also died at the scene. The Assembly had earlier approved a Veterans Day observance change to November 11.

Airlines limit touch and go flights to day hours 7 am to 7 pm
Long Beach airport spokesman says private and commercial pilots may only perform practice touch and go takeoffs and landings between 7 a m and 7 p m to avoid night noise. The rule allows regular traffic to continue. the restriction is for noise control during night hours.
