Three Americans Held in Okinawa Heroin Smuggling Case
Japanese authorities in Okinawa disclosed the arrest of a civilian doctor, a VFW club manager, and a soldier in a large scale heroin smuggling operation. Four point four pounds of heroin were seized, with the drugs concealed in medical equipment boxes mailed from Vietnam. The physician was Dr William C Kothe of Fort Lauderdale Florida and the operation was led by Timothy Kephart of Santa Cruz California.
