GM fights to delay 1975 auto emission standards
GM filed in U S District Court of Appeals seeking a one year suspension of the 1975 federal auto emission rules. EPA chief Ruckelshaus refused the delay, saying automakers have not proved current technology is unavailable to meet the 1975 standard. Leaders from Ford Chrysler International Harvester and GM justify the review as necessary to complete durable control technology.
