WHOS IN NH News: Carol DeMarr and John Baer wed in Indy

Carol DeMarr of Flora Indiana and John Baer of Delphi Indiana were sworn in and married at the Armed Forces Induction Center Indianapolis. The Air Force paid their one night honeymoon hotel bill. They depart for six weeks basic training in San Antonio Texas and expect to be stationed together afterward. Dewey Van Cave of Santa Rosa New Mexico won the Republican nomination for Guadalupe County Commission in a primary runoff though his father filed and paid the fee. The ballot listed the son with the father’s name. County officials seek guidance from Santa Fe on the outcome.

Police capture two Baader Meinhof gang members in West Berlin

In West Berlin police arrested Bernard Brau 26 and Brigitte Mohnhaupt 24 while armed, marking the fifth and sixth captures of the Baader Meinhof gang in eight days. The group is linked to bombings that killed four American soldiers and wounded others, with Andreas Baader 29 among the alleged leaders and Gudrun Ensslin arrested in Hamburg. California 1968 primary turnout falls short of record

California reported a 66.2 percent voter turnout in the primary, about 5.8 points below the 72 percent record set in 1964. Secretary of State Edmund G Brown Jr said late counts from three counties may nudge totals slightly higher but current figures show Democratic turnout around 67.2 percent and Republican at 65.8 percent. George McGovern led the Democrats with about 44.3 percent and Hubert Humphrey 89.2 percent in the statewide tallies. On the GOP ballot Nixon held 90.2 percent to Ashbrook 9.8 percent as write-ins.
