SAS sues over DC-8 blaze injuring no lives lost
Scandinavian Airlines System filed a 150 million dollar damage suit in Los Angeles federal court against McDonnell Douglas Corp Douglas Aircraft Co and four suppliers for the April 19 1970 Rome Finneino Airport DC-8 fire that destroyed the jet. It seeks 15 million for loss of aircraft leasing costs and hold for property and passenger damages plus 135 million in punitive damages against Pratt & Whitney Rohr Industries and two engine parts firms for alleged negligent manufacturing. SAS cites United Aircraft and the suppliers as liable and notes no fatalities.
