Exile couple sends $5,000 to Viet Cong via Hanoi radio

North Vietnamese radio claims pro communist American exiles Stem and wife delivered a $5,000 contribution to the anti U.S. funds of the South Vietnamese people at the Nam Viet office of the National Liberation Front. Stem, a former New York broker, and his wife, daughter of late ambassador William E. Dodd, left the U.S. in 1957 after espionage inquiries and were last reported living in Czechoslovakia.

Johnson administration reverses on bank rate cut proposal

In Washington, the Johnson administration shifts stance, opposing lowering the maximum interest banks may pay on deposits under 100,000 while backing most other bill provisions. Tropic Storm No Threat in Final Stages
