Kuchel asks Congress to release Bell base for development
Senator Kuchel urged Congress to return an abandoned Air Force base near Bell to allow commercial development creating 7,500 to 10,000 jobs. The measure proposes selling 50 acres of the depot and the 400 acre site at fair market value for industrial development, returning the property to its former owners or a Santa Fe Railway subsidiary.

French Work Objectors in France Granted Legal Status
The French National Assembly passed a bill to grant legal status to conscientious objectors while doubling their service term in nonviolent duties. Most objectors are Jehovah's Witnesses.
