Pitt University Aid Secretary of Year Trial Begins
Martha Michalik, a secretary from West Mifflin, is named national secretary of the year by the National Secretaries Association. Opening arguments begin in a murder trial involving Dr. R Bernard Finch and Carole Tregoff, with jurors selected and alternates ready as the trial is expected to last months. The state seeks the death penalty for both Finch and Miss Tregoff, who are accused of killing Barbara Jean Finch to gain her husband’s fortune. Miss Tregoff has shown stress and illness during proceedings, including a confrontation with a deputy.
