Market gains fueled by Phase IV prospects on NYSE
Investors drove stock prices higher in fair trading on the New York Stock Exchange as expectations built for Phase IV details due Wednesday. The Dow rose about 0.45, S&P 500 up, with advances outnumbering declines roughly two to one and volume near 19 million shares. Treasury Secretary Shultz noted Phase IV guidelines would be released Wednesday amid lingering inflation concerns and solid second quarter earnings.
