Pacific Fleet on Four Hour Alert Amid Far East Tension
The Pacific Fleet went to a four hour alert involving six ships including USS Columbus and USS Hele with USS Worchester kept in for planned inactivation in September. Hundreds of dependents gathered at Municipal Pier E to cheer the carrier Philippine Sea, crews recalled from leave as Lexington returns to San Diego for standby ops.
