Russia arms in Somalia eyed by visiting lawmakers
UPI report says a congressional delegation led by Rep. Samuel Stratton toured Somalia and reported evidence of a Soviet military presence including a missile facility at Berbera and air and signal support. Delegates did not see missiles, but noted a large facility and potential Diego Garcia base expansion. Bartlett tied visit to drought refugee aid goals.

Labor blasts noise level proposal as cost over health
Labor unions denounce the Ford administration and industry for prioritizing cost over worker health in proposed noise controls. AFL-CIO leaders urge stricter limits, arguing health and safety justify stronger standards than the department’s 80 decibels eight hour proposal, with calls for 75 to 85 decibels and billions in compliance costs debated.
