UC astronomers unveil eight billion light-year galaxy Al2
University of California astronomers report the discovery of a distant galaxy named 30123, about eight billion light years distant and five times larger than the Milky Way. Observed with Lick Observatory, the galaxy contains hundreds of billions of stars and may reveal how galaxies looked when the universe was young.
