California May Lose 600 Million in Federal Welfare Funds
HEW warned California it could forfeit its 600 million dollar share of AFDC payments if it fails to implement a congressionally directed cost of living increase for aid recipients by July 1 1969. Officials noted no formal reply from California and discussed potential hearings and a noncompliance finding as steps toward cutting federal funds.
