Woman saves bus and students on crowded field trip
Diane Miltenberger a 22 year old charter bus driver from Hawaiian Gardens steered a bus with 44 students and five adults through a five car pileup after brakes failed on Mt Baldy Road. She guided the vehicle between wreckage and slowed it by scraping the embankment before stopping 40 feet from a cliff edge, averting catastrophe. The action earned praise from Highway Patrol Officer James Neeley calling it outstanding and fantastic.
