County records show County Assessor Philip Watson repeatedly challenged Assessment Appeals Board member Vernon E. Brown at hearings, yet Brown attended over 47 days and collected 100 dollars daily as a hearing officer plus 100 dollars daily for an alternate, costing taxpayers 4750 in addition to salaries. Brown had accused Watson of over assessing property taxes, and Watson sought to remove him, citing potential conflicts.
